چکیده

ROBDDs have traditionally been built in a bottom-up fashion, through the recursive use of Bryant's apply procedure [6], or the ITE [4] procedure. With these methods, the peak memory utilization is often larger than the nal ROBDD size. Though methods like Dynamic Variable Reordering [21] have been proposed to reduce the memory utilization, such schemes have an associated time penalty. In this paper, we show that for a large number of applications, it is more e cient to construct the ROBDD by a suitable combination of top-down (decomposition based) and bottom-up (composition based) approaches. We suitably select decomposition points during the construction of the ROBDD, and follow it by a symbolic composition to get the nal ROBDD. We propose two heuristic algorithms for decomposition. One is based on a topological analysis of a given combinational netlist, while the other is purely functional, making no assumptions about the underlying topology of the circuit. We demonstrate the utility of our scheme on the standard benchmark circuits. Our results show that for a given variable ordering, our method usually has signi cantly better time as well as memory characteristics than existing techniques. Our methods are easily extended to many variants of ROBDDs, and in that sense are powerful in their scope. 2

Compositional Techniques for Mixed Bottom-Up/Top-Down Construction of ROBDDs

Reduced Ordered Binary Decision Diagrams (ROBDDs) have traditionally been built in a bottom-up fashion, through the recursive use of Bryant's apply procedure [4], or the ITE [2] procedure. With these methods, the intermediate peak memory utilization is often larger than the nal ROBDD size. This peak memory requirement limits the complexity of the circuits which can be processed using ROBDDS. Re...

A Comparative Study of Effect of Bottom-up and Top-down Instructional Approaches on EFL Learners’ Vocabulary Recall and Retention

This quasi-experimental study investigated the effect of bottom-up and top-down instructional approaches on English as a foreign language (EFL) vocabulary recall and retention. To this end, 44 high school students from two intact classes were assigned to bottom-up (n = 21) and top-down (n = 23) groups. The participants were exposed to 20 hours of explicit vocabulary instruction during 10 weeks ...

Efficient Scheduling Techniques for ROBDD Construction

The most common way to build the reduced ordered binary decision diagram (ROBDD) of a complex gate (or function) f of a network is bottom-up, i.e., by rst building the ROBDDs of the sub-expressions of f and then suitably combining them. Such a method, however, has been found to su er from memory explosion, even when the ROBDD of f is not large. This leads to the following fundamental question: ...

The effect of bottom-up and top-down auditory program training on the development of children's auditory processing skills

Although there have been several previous investigations on the role of auditory training for the development of auditory processing skills, it still remains unknown whether children with auditory processing difficulties can get improved auditory skills after exposure to a multi-modal training experience comprising both visual and tactile stimuli. The present study, therefore, attempted to use ...
